How I Transformed My Life at 40 Having 2 Kids with No Work Experience: A Journey of Rediscovery, Courage, and New Beginnings
At almost 40, I found myself living a life I never imagined. My days had become a cycle of routine and regret, and the dreams I once had seemed like distant memories. I was a mother of two, with nothing more than a graduate degree and no work experience. Coming from a wealthy background, I never imagined facing a financial crisis. My father never believed women should work, and my husband’s possessiveness kept me trapped, refusing to let me embrace my independence. With no support from my parents or in-laws, I felt lost and invisible.
But in my darkest moment, I made a choice—to reclaim my life and rewrite my future
Realizing the Need for Change
I had been forced to step away from my family business after having children. For years, I convinced myself that my role was limited to being a mother and wife and that my ambitions were long gone. But as I watched my children grow, I realized that I wasn’t setting the example I wanted for them. By settling for less, I was teaching them to do the same. This realization shook me to my core. My family had always discouraged me from working, and my husband, over-possessive, wanted me to remain at home. I was born into a family where education was just a step towards a good marriage, not independence.
But deep down, I knew I was meant for more. I had to fight back—not just for myself, but for my children and the woman I knew I could become.
The Terrifying Decision to Start Over
Starting over at 40 was terrifying. I had no work experience, no skills, and no clear direction. But I knew I couldn’t keep watching life pass me by. The fear of staying the same outweighed the fear of change, so I took a leap of faith.
Discovering ICBI: A Lifeline in the Dark
That’s when I discovered the Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI). I felt an inexplicable pull towards it, sensing that this was my chance. Enrolling at ICBI was more than just a decision; it was a lifeline, a last hope to find my place in the world. From the moment I walked into ICBI, I felt something shift within me. It wasn’t just about learning new skills—it was about rediscovering myself. Surrounded by others on similar journeys, I found a community that believed in me even when I didn’t.
The mentors at ICBI saw potential in me that I had long forgotten and helped me rebuild my confidence, piece by piece.
Transformation Through Training
I threw myself into the training, learning both Image Management and Soft Skills. The experience was nothing short of transformative.
For the first time in years, I felt strong, capable, and worthy. ICBI didn’t just give me skills; it gave me a purpose. It reminded me of the dreams I once had and gave me the tools to pursue them.
Breaking Into the Corporate World
With newfound confidence, I ventured into the corporate world—a place I had never imagined myself. I started leading training sessions with top companies like HCL Healthcare, BNP Paribas, and Kotak Life Insurance.
I even took on the challenge of adding grooming and etiquette training at Indigo Airways, despite having no background in aviation. The life that once felt so small was now filled with opportunities. I was finally living the life I had always dreamed of.
Healing Relationships and Inspiring Others
But the transformation didn’t end there. The skills I gained at ICBI also changed my personal life. My relationship with my husband, once strained and controlling, began to heal. He started to see me not just as his wife, but as a strong, independent woman he could be proud of.
My children, who once saw me as just ‘Mom,’ now see me as a role model—someone who fought against the odds to take control of her life.
Becoming a Mentor and a Lifelong Learner
Today, I am more than a trainer or consultant. I’m a mentor, a guide, and an inspiration to many. I work closely with students and professionals, helping them find their own paths to success. At ICBI, I mentor young women, sharing my journey and encouraging them to take charge of their destinies.
But my journey is far from over. I recently became a certified makeup artist and am excited to start my own YouTube channel. I’m also considering writing a book and starting a podcast to share my story with even more people.
It’s Never Too Late to Rewrite Your Destiny
My story isn’t just about personal success—it’s about the power of courage, determination, and self-belief. My journey shows that it’s never too late to rewrite your destiny. Life doesn’t end at 40—in many ways, it’s just beginning. If my story inspires even one person to take that first step toward their dreams, then every struggle, every tear, and every doubt will have been worth it.
