From 'Moti Hai' to Unstoppable: How I Broke Free from Society’s Labels and Reclaimed My Life
The Early Struggles: Breaking the Mold
From a young age, I was labeled by people with hurtful names like “Moti hai,” mocking my weight, my voice, and my boldness. These labels stung, but the love of my family kept me grounded. It wasn’t until I got married that the real challenges began.
The Storm of Marriage: Losing Myself
In 2013, I moved to Agra, thinking that after marriage those tags would be left behind. Instead, it brought storms. My new life questioned everything about me—my body, my voice, my confidence. The protective bubble of my family was gone, and I found myself lost in a world that seemed determined to tear me down. From a working girl, I had gone into a Sabbatical and as we say “ empty mind is a devil's workshop.
My marriage, my new life started to crumble(was getting affected), and the confident woman I once was began to disappear. Little did I know I was battling depression, getting anxiety attacks every now and then., feeling like I had lost myself entirely.
A Ray of Hope: The Turning Point
Then, in 2017, something unexpected happened. A concerned cousin introduced me to an image consultant who was an alum of the Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI). Those four days with her were a turning point for me. For the first time in years, I saw a glimmer of the person I used to be—the woman who wasn’t afraid to dream, to stand tall, and to fight back. But it wasn’t an instant fix. I still had a one-year-old daughter to care for and a marriage hanging by a thread. The world was closing in on me, and I had to decide: would I stay in the darkness, or would I fight for my place in the light?
The global pandemic in 2020, strange as it was, gave me a unique opportunity. With everything moving online, I enrolled in the Business Program with ICBI, and that decision changed my life.
The Transformation: Reclaiming My Identity
Every session at ICBI was more than just a class—it was a step towards reclaiming my identity. The lessons on communication, body language, and interpersonal relationships weren’t just academic; they were deeply personal. I began to change, shedding layers of self-doubt and rediscovering my worth. My married life , once on the verge of collapse, began to heal.
The knowledge and confidence I gained helped me communicate better, understand myself and my husband,my family and rebuild what had been broken. My husband held my hand all through the journey of transformation.
Embracing the New Me: Moving Forward with Purpose
Today, I am a transformed woman. The change isn’t just on the surface—it’s deep within me. I’ve become more confident, self-assured, and ready to face the world. I’m actively involved in community work, serving as a grooming coach for an NGO in Agra, helping underprivileged children. These sessions aren’t just about grooming; they’re about giving these children the tools to face the world with the same strength I’ve found within myself.
But my journey doesn’t end here. I’m still completing my course at ICBI, but the transformation has already taken root. Friends and family see the changes in me. I’m calmer, more understanding, a better listener, and most importantly, I’m genuinely happy. The negativity that once surrounded me is now just a distant echo, drowned out by a newfound love and respect for myself.
My Story of Resilience and Hope
My story is one of resilience—of finding the courage to stand up when life knocks you down, to keep going even when it feels like the world is against you. It’s about believing in yourself, even when you’re at your lowest, and having the strength to seek help when you need it. As I look forward, I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. I’m in talks with schools, NGOs, and companies, eager to share what I’ve learned. But more than that, I’m committed to continuing my journey of growth and self-discovery.
I’m sharing my story not just because it’s mine, but because I hope it resonates with you. We all face challenges, and sometimes they feel insurmountable. But I’ve learned that no matter where you start or how tough things get, you have the power to change your life. You can rewrite your story, just like I did, and come out stronger, wiser, and more resilient than ever before.
